Mom, Gracie and I took off yesterday morning for Sharonville, OH, for a one-day agility trial. It was the American Boxers Club event and they had all-breed one day. So guess what we saw! Yep, Boxers, everywhere!
I'm not that fond of Boxers, so it was an interesting day for me, but one of them I got to like - so maybe there's hope for them afterall, BOL! Actually they can be quite nice dogs, really glad I got to know that.
We rose at 3:30 AM - and got there about 6:30 AM. The event was held at the Queen City Agility Club - so was an indoor trial, on matted flooring. I had never been on flooring like that so, Mom and I looked at it as an experiment - and experience.
Our first run was Standard - 11 dogs in our class and height. Mom led out a jump or so, and when she said OK - I took off like a bat out of heck - two jumps to the dog walk; then a weird turn to the tunnel (which slowed me down a bit), but then off I went again - through all the obstacles and a nice Q. Found out later I got FIRST PLACE! That is way cool! 3.329 YPS for a standard - not our fastest, but not too bad for first time being on a flooring mat.
Waited awhile in my crate, while Mom played and walked around with Gracie; ate her lunch; and then it was time for our JWW run. Course looked good and flowing - so we thought we had a shot at another DQ. The tunnel was the first obstacle - which I really don't like, since I'm a jumpers dog, for sure. But we did it - made it through the course - a little slower than in the AM, but got a nice Q and four place.
So another Double Q - our second in a row - OMD!!! Now we are 4-0 in AKC for the season, so far - very cool.
We got home about 6:00 PM, and we were beat! But very satisfied. Fun day!
I love the picture! :) You look as tired as my Levi was after his trial last weekend. That is a long day. Ugh. I don't like getting up in the morning. Congrats on your double Q! Levi doesn't have any yet, but is in Excellent B now so we can start getting them... in theory. ;)
