How far to win?

Mum came across a few articles the other day about canine cosmetic surgery. Botox, facelifts, eyebrow lifts, wrinkle reduction, and more. It seems that the pursuit of perfection may now be extending to the canine race in some parts of the world.

There's a story of one Brazilian cosmetic surgeon who performed a botox type of injection on an miniature schnauzer Argentinian pup to correct an 'ear flop' helping him go on to be the Grand Champion in that country.

There are several types of cosmetic surgeries that are done on pups, we feel, quite unnecessarily. Tail docking, ear cropping, and in cats, declawing. We are really against these things, as are folks in Europe and Canada. We sure wish the US would catch up and ban these needless and painful surgeries.

There are some surgeries that may seem cosmetic in nature, but can actually help a pup live a healthier, happier life. We'll be covering that in another post.

In the meantime, Naples botox injections, may just be on the rise for some. It's not mine, or Mum's type of thing, but if it can help others who have had injuries have a healthier, happier life, we are for it!

  1. oh boy, well, here in the States if you do any type of cosmetic surgery to your dog to win a show, you get disqualified. My sister Lucy's ears don't tip (neither do mine, but I never was a show dog) and it was once suggested to the Mum she have surgery to tip them!
