The classic Kong! You gotta it, now whatta gonna do with it? Well, turns out there's lots to do with a Kong, oh, and a pup!
You can play fetch, play hide and seek, but my favorite thing to do with a Kong is stuff it!
With what you say? Well, turns out there a lot you can stuff a Kong with. Try some of these great things courtesy Squidoo Kong Recipes!
1 fresh banana
2 tablespoons wheat germ
1 tablespoon plain yogurt
In a bowl, mash up banana and then add remaining ingredients. Spoon into Kong. Freeze for 4 hours.
Scrambled Egg Delight
1 scrambled egg
shredded cheese (lowfat, organic is best)
Scramble egg and put into Kong. Sprinkle cheese over the top of the egg inside the Kong and microwave for 10-20 seconds. Make sure to cool thoroughly before giving to dog.
leftover chicken (or turkey)
Place small scraps inside Kong Toy. Seal opening with a small amount of cream cheese to hold the scraps in.
Smear thin layer of peanut butter around the inside cavity of the Kong. That's it! (don't fill the whole Kong with peanut butter or else your pooch will get a tummy ache!)
And you can also stuff a Kong with a pups kibble and have them work for their dinner. This is especially good for those who like to 'wolf' their food and have a tendency toward bloat.
Oh, and one of my favorite things in a Kong, especially in the Summer, are frozen pureed frozen fruits and veggies with a little yogurt mixed in. For more great ideas see the Fun Times Guide for Dogs! Just remember good, healthy food is the best food to use!
