  1. Dust is doing the same thing...she's getting white hairs on her topskull, under her eyes and in her ears, too!

  5. !!! We woke up one morning a couple of years ago and Jake had turned into an old grey-muzzle. Or so it seemed. Close inspection of photos showed it was a little more gradual than that. I now realise the grey snout is a prime-of-life indicator.

  6. Oh,my. You're getting "rusty" like me. thats from the sun, and Doggles sun screen really helps with that, but where is all that white fur coming from?? I still think you are very handsome. makes you look like the business man you are!

  7. Thanks everyone - but 4.25 years old, isn't old enough to get greys, is it? This must be some kind of latent mutant expression or something.

Don't mind the muzzle so much as those white eyebrows. Heck, Mum's old and she doesn't have that yet!

Lisa - in her ears? Oh my! At the rate I'm going, won't be long.

Morgan - yep, us Bi-blacks we get red sometimes from the sun. Heck I don't care, it's like a badge of outdoorsmanship.

  9. Dust's greying started right around age 4. And it is definitely progressing to other odd places. Just today I noticed a few HUGE, LONG white hairs on her croup, just above her tail. In Aussies, the greying muzzle does tend to run in certain lines so I'm sure there's some sort of genetic component.

  10. My dog Jake had white in his muzzle before he came to live with me when he was around 5 or 6. But he was still doing agility at 15 to the day he died, so maybe that's really a good sign.
