Johann, that sure is a comprehensive overview of car safety. My dog, Penny, has a restraining harness but I noticed on the packaging it doesn't claim to be a protection in an accident - ie it's not a seat-belt. It just keeps her from moving around. Also, in the event of a small accident it would keep her from running off. I usually only use it when driving to the mountains - about eighty kilometres - because I go at higher speeds. After reading your info on car safety I'm going to use it all the time because I've realised if we had a little accident Penny might run away in the chaos.
Thanks for all the info you posted! I enjoy your blog and finally I've spotted the place where I can get a feed from it so I can see it every day. (I kept looking for it in the address bar at the top!) Now I"m off to read what you wrote about making sure pups have a job to do.
Thanks for letting us post it Johann - it really is very important information - and very timely for us getting ready to go on a big car ride for our move.
I'll go and have a read. Ma just bought me a new harness but I'll see if there are any other tips for her.

You can never get too much good advice, it's always helpful, and often worth repeating, as people forget things (us dogs don't).
