I have always felt blessed - have a great home, a great family, I'm loved - who could ask for more?
Every year around the time of St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day (which is this coming Saturday, October 4th), my Mum and I attend an animal blessing.
My first blessing was at the Mutt Strutt, a fundraiser put on by the Humane Society of Indianapolis. The event was at the 'Old Brickyard' (which is the track where the Indianapolis 500 is held). That day I was 9 months old. We had a great day, shot my first video, walked around the track, got some goodies, and raised some money our friends had pledged for the pups in need.
I even met one of my best agility buds that day. Agility wasn't even a twinkle in my eye, but we met Sam and her rescue pups. Three years later (this past July) we were on a DAM team together qualifying at Regionals with 15th place. Sam and I love to remember the day we met.
We always enjoy the blessing ceremonies. Some that we've attended have had horses, chickens, turtles, dogs, bunnies, cats, and other animals in attendance - all being blessed in harmony. The ceremonies always touch us, and help us to remember the important things in life.
To honor and remember our special blessing days, we made two Squidoo lenses - Animal Blessings and St. Francis of Assisi. Check them out - there's great info, videos, pictures, prayers, medals for your collar, and you can find a blessing near you!
And Happy St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day!
